Learn About Clogging

Clogging is a percusive step dance. The word "clog" comes from the Gaelic which means "time." Clogging started in the Appalacian Mountains as an expression of celebration. Clogging came from many backgrounds such as Ireland, England, Scotland and many countries throughout Africa.

Many clogging groups of today do both traditional and contemporary styles. Contemporary clogging steps are influenced by Canadian step dancing, Irish dance, tap,and may other forms of dance.

Amanda teaches contemporary mostly, but dedicates time every class to traditional style. She also combines many other styles such as: hip hop; belly dance; latin; swing; and pretty much any other kind of dance you can think of into her choreography.
